Introduction:

The cooking assistant is responsible to perform various kitchen duties like cleaning, washing, and cutting vegetables. They assist the cook with all tasks necessary to ensure that kitchen operates smoothly. The job responsibilities of a cook assistant include properly cleaning and sanitizing food preparation areas according to established standards of hygiene, washing and storing all cooking appliances utensils, instruments, and cutting board, assist the cook with the preparation of meal ingredients including washing, peeling, cutting and chopping fruits, poultry and meat, sweeping and mopping the kitchen, wiping down the kitchen walls, assisting with unloading with delivered food supplies, organizing and storing food supplies, transferring meal ingredients from storage area to kitchen, stirring and heating soups and sauces and preparing hot beverages.

Cook Assistant Job Summary:

We are looking to hire a successful candidate who can assist the preparation of well seasoned, attractive appetizing meals, for patients and employees according to established policy and procedure. Essential duties include preparing food and assisting in maintaining the dietary department in a safe and sanitary manner, attend in-service education classes pertinent to job responsibilities, receiving food and supplies according to established policies and procedures, responsible for additional tasks as designated by the nutritionist, function within a setting which may change frequently due to consumer and staff needs, other duties assigned. The position needs to report the store management and is responsible for ensuring guest satisfaction primarily by providing quality food consistently and efficiently. The position performs backup, preparation work, and line work in the kitchen beginning with close progressing to limited supervision.

Cook Assistant Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Preparing food for restaurants in the commissionary kitchen
  • Perform task necessary to achieve food quality and safety in the commissionary safety production environment, including maintaining inventory, production efficiency, and meeting safety, cleanliness, and sanitization standard
  • Work collaboratively with other team members, managers, and departments ensuring the success of the facility minimizing outages and waste
  • Work independently with minimal oversight and complete task with honesty and integrity
  • Ensure food and other products are consistently prepared and served according to the kitchen process, recipes, portioning, and cooking

Cook Assistant Skills and Qualification:
