Cook Helper Job Summary:

We are looking to hire a successful candidate who has a high school diploma or GED. Reporting to the Food Services Supervisor, you will be responsible for helping with food preparation, food service, and kitchen cleanliness. You will also keep daily meal count records as well as accurate inventory records. Additionally, when the Food Services Supervisor is absent, you will serve as cook. You will assist in the preparation, cooking, and presentation of meals in our professional kitchen. Your job duties include preparing all served food, plan food production to coordinate with meal serving hours, memorize, record, and comprehend menu items, abbreviations, plate appearance, and portions, follow standard recipes and special diet orders, operate standard kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, adhere to all sanitation and food production codes, clean and maintain kitchen equipment, utensils, and appliances, ensures compliance with company service standards and inventory and cash control procedures, interacts with customers and coworkers in a courteous, efficient and friendly manner, bakes bread, rolls, cakes, and pastry as a course of instruction permits.

Cook Helper Job Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Assisting head cook in preparing juice, meats, fruits, and preserves

  • Transferring material to the cooking area by hand
  • Cleaning the cooking kettles and container using water and pressurized steam
