Fund Accountant Job Summary:

They should stay up to date with current trends and must possess expert knowledge working with spreadsheets. Some of the experience required in this role includes knowledge of word processing software, managing company finance, and handling budget based on income and expenditure account. Work experience with general ledger function is required and must be an expert conducting internal and external auditing. As a fund accountant, the candidate is responsible for the accounting services provided by the organization. He will be responsible for preparing hedge fund valuations, including security valuation, fee computation and accruals, income allocation, and statement to investors. Additionally, the individual will be involved in preparing the annual audit reports.

Fund Accountant Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Remain up to date with accounting principles and procedures
  • Conduct daily accounting duties of assigned fund
  • Perform fund analysis month-end reconciliation, account closing and reporting for critical decision-making purposes
  • Support accounting system to record all fund transactions
  • Recognize fund request and manage fund distribution
  • Manage cash flow and expenses
  • Respond to audit inquiries and prepare a financial statement for auditing
  • Answer to accounting inquiries promptly
  • Work in compliances with company policies and procedures
  • Advance process improvements to boost financial performance
  • Valuating securities and reconciling balances with prime brokers
  • Calculate fund expenses including management and performance fees
  • Calculating NAV for each fund and preparing balance sheet, accounting report and income statement
  • Preparing year-end financial statement and liaising with auditors
  • Maintaining fund books and records and ensuring correct application of GAAP
  • Process sharing or partnership related accounting is related to offering memorandum

Fund Accountant Skills and Qualification:

  • Bachelor degree in accounting with experience in accounting software and data entry
  • Must possess a minimum of 2 years of experience
  • Extensive knowledge about the spreadsheet and mechanics of the financial instrument
  • Punctual, reliable and must have strong communication skill
  • Fund accounting experience
  • Knowledge about MS office, excel, and Adobe Acrobat
  • Able to work in a team and produce quality output under tight deadlines
  • Strong verbal and oral communication skills
  • CPA is required with experience handling accounting firm
  • Self-motivated and strong analytical skills
  • Attention to detail, prioritization skill and time management
  • Quick learner with a positive attitude
