Mechanical Helper Job Description


Mechanical helper provides support to the man mechanic and performs duties like changing oil and tires, replace hose and belt, inspect brakes, and help to diagnose vehicle issues. They require hand tools to mechanics to maintain material stock and take care of test drives. Most helpers will be having a high school diploma and certificate programs completed in mechanical engineering. Some of the job duties of a mechanic helper include handling the task of repairing, inspecting, and replacing faulty or defective equipment and components, responsible for developing recommending, and performing preventive maintenance procedures like cleaning, vacuum equipment, changing filters and oiling part, performing the task of testing electrical circuit and other related components using electrical test equipment.

Mechanical Helper Job Summary:

We are looking to hire a successful candidate who has a high school diploma. We are currently seeking a dedicated hardworking individual to join our dynamic team. In this position, you will be responsible for assisting the mechanic’s department with any appropriate duties. You will also be responsible for filling in occasionally driving one of our delivery routes which would require you to possess a CDL Class A License. CDL Training can be provided for the employee if a license is not currently held. To succeed in this role, you should be physically and mentally fit. Our ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, excellent communication, and a focus on increasing efficiency and accountability. It is equally important that they be willing and able to learn new skills and knowledge within the realm of the mechanics and maintenance departments. Duties and responsibilities include parts running as required by the mechanics and maintenance departments, and general labor within the mechanics and maintenance departments.

Mechanical Helper Job Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Assists maintenance mechanic in repairing and maintain machinery and mechanical equipment.
  • Carry tools and equipment to and from storage and work areas
  • Hold scaffolding members in place or tighten the bolt to erect a working platform for machines
  • Pull the handle to raise materials and tools to working level
  • Loosen bolt to dismantle machinery
  • Dig trenches for machinery foundation
  • Mix and pour concrete for the foundation
  • Oil and grease machines
  • Clean machine with sandpaper, solvent, and wiping rags to prepare the surface for painting

Mechanical Helper Skills and Qualification:

  • High School Diploma
  • Must possess a minimum of 1 year of experience in a similar field
  • Punctual, reliable and must have strong communication skill
  • Familiar with latest vehicle diagnostic equipment
  • Valid state vehicle inspection license required
  • Must possess ASE or equivalent certification
