Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) is a type of society-based mental treatment for patients who have a major mental disorder that makes it difficult for them to live at home, make professional visits in medical clinics, and control their illnesses. We are now looking for mental health therapists who are skilled, competent, and dynamic. As a peer support advocate, you will be committed to promoting healing, consciousness, identity, well-being, and freedom; peer recovery solutions are individualized, rehabilitation, and based on a friendship that claims to support a person’s potential to promote their healing; promote self-directed retrieval by aiding a person; encourage trauma-informed treatment and variety expertise; motivate self-direction, and actively support for informed choices. 

Peer Support Specialists Job Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Meet with clients regularly to provide support and counseling
  • Create support plans, coping techniques, and rehabilitation strategies with consumers
  • Plan hospital appointments, counseling sessions, support groups, and other resources to assist clients
  • Review clients’ behavior, schedules, medicines, and tasks
  • Report any abnormal behavior, conflict, or recovery variance to the appropriate professionals
  • Regularly communicates with close relatives and medical experts
  • Offers specialized peer services and programs
  • Attends and engages in community events and groups
  • Assists in the creation of a restoring force by interacting with staff and employees served

Peer Support Specialists Skills and Qualification:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Must possess a minimum of 1 year of experience in the similar field
  • Display peer acceptance or mental health expertise
  • Acquire peer support expert accreditation
  • Be capable of traveling daily or within the surrounding area
  • Have a broad understanding of community service
  • A clear drug test and no interaction with the substance
  • Experience dealing with mental health issues, substance misuse, or trauma
  • Availability of a driver’s license and vehicle
