The position requires the candidate to be flexible in handling various roles by the changing need of students. They create programs and activities meeting residents need acting as a community developer and host floor or building meetings. They interact with community residents and encourage community involvement.

Resident Assistant Job Summary:

We are looking to hire a successful candidate who will be responsible for promoting a residential experience that fosters retention and cultivates referrals, enhances students the opportunity for student’s success, engagement and appreciation for difference, knowledge of campus resources, and satisfaction with the university experience. Additionally, the resident assistant needs to assist management in the administration of village tasks. They will be responsible for collecting initial and ongoing data on all residents. They should provide direct resident care developed by the RN including medication, administration, reporting conditions, and changes. They would be the only staff working in the building managing building and resident emergencies, demonstrating good judgment towards care, safety, and hospitality. Perform genera care service needs which may include various housekeeping and recreational activities.

Resident Assistant Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Assisting the residents with a transition to college and residence hall life
  • Strictly follow university and residence hall rules and regulations
  • Be always available to residents on call
  • Assisting supervisors and residents responding to complaints, request, and emergencies
  • Provide report regarding violation and safety issues
  • Promoting residents hall event and informing resident about campus and local activities
  • Facilitating the resolution f disagreement between residents
  • Managing the front desk and helping students and visitors as per security protocol
  • Attending and participating in staff meetings and training sessions
  • Organizing floor meetings with residents
  • Supporting the resident hall team in performing various task
  • Responding to safety and medical issues
  • Building rapport with residents by showing interest in their lives
  • Ensuring patients take medication as directed by healthcare providers
  • Performing security checks and responding to incidents.

Resident Assistant Skills and Qualification:

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • 2 years of experience in the residential care facility
  • CAN certification is a plus
  • Previous nursing experience is needed
  • A valid drivers license is required
  • Must be a good understanding with academic sectors
  • Must have cleared criminal history check
  • Must be obtained CPR certification
  • Must adhere to company policies and regulations
  • Knowledge of counseling skills and behavioral intervention techniques
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Must have completed the drivers training program
  • Responsible for individual immediate general physical well being and supervision all the times
  • Strong verbal and oral communication skills
