A survey assistant’s responsibilities and tasks include transporting, assembling, and dismantling surveying devices, setting out building work and pegging out boundary lines under guidance, assisting surveyors in measuring the angle, distances, and elevations using tape, steel band, or other tools that use radio and light vibrations, and recording measurements manually or in a digital ground data recorder. They work in a variety of surveying fields, including land, hydrologic, engineering, and mining. They are required to work outside on survey sites and may be required to labor in distant regions for extended periods. The measurement system is the most often used equipment by land survey assistants, who are also known as land surveying technicians.
