A dump truck driver is a person who moves garbage, dirt and construction material to and from various locations. The vehicle will be equipped with open beds allowing quick transportation of rock, sand, gravel, and other material. The driver must have knowledge using the cranks and levers inside the truck to load and unload construction materials or garbage on to the truck. He should be ready to work in any weather conditions. It is the duty of the driver to examine the mechanical issues of the vehicle before and after each trip.
The driver must verify the type of material being transferred and ensure they don’t exceed the weight restriction. The vehicle has to be regularly maintained to avoid unnecessary breakdowns in the middle of their work. Any mechanical problems or accidents should be reported immediately to the concerned person.
