Welder helper works closely with professional welders and their job is to ensure the welder lays down a quality weld on every project. They assist the lead welder in moving heavy objects, holding down certain workpieces, handling certain welding tasks. They should perform various welding, brazing and cutting task and performs a range of task ensuring welder lays down the high-quality weld. They help conduct preventative maintenance of welding equipment and tools. They inspect working implements to identify faults and facilitate repairs of worn parts. They clean workpieces using a grinder or scraper to remove foreign matter such as scale and rust. Welding helpers read and interpret the production schedule and blueprint to determine the specifications for a project. Some of the qualities the candidate needed to develop in their career include physical strength, communication, and technical skills.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We are looking to hire a successful candidate who has a high school diploma and experience in welding. Preferred candidates will possess a basic knowledge of SMAW welding and have completed or are currently enrolled in an accredited welding program. The right candidate will be able to Assist welders in all aspects of fabrication and assembly in shop and field site work areas, Operate all hand\/automated tools including tape measure, steel square, wrenches, ratchets, grinders, chop saws, come-along, jacks, chain hoists, clamps, welding dogs & pad-eyes, Layout, position, and secure parts and assemblies using hoists, pry bars, wrenches, hammer, and wedges as directed, Cut steel using oxygen\/acetylene torch or plasma cutter, Remove rough spots, slag, etc. from the workpiece, using portable grinder, wire brush, hand file, bench grinder, wire wheel, ack-weld or weld non-code steel components utilizing tape measure, combination square, and other related tools for the shop.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
