The assistant chef provides support for the head chef of the restaurant, hotel, and cafeteria. They perform various food preparation duties and includes in the supervisory and cooking task. The duties and liabilities of an executive chef remains training subordinate chefs and supervising their role, reviewing kitchen inventory, estimating quantity of food needed to prepare, overseeing the storage and disposal of leftover food, assist head chef to prepare new recipes, maintaining record of food prepared, handling kitchen in the absence of head chef, and deciding ingredients need to use to prepare new cuisine. The assistant chef needs to have a degree in culinary arts or certification from culinary school. They must have knowledge of taking classes for junior staff in nutrition, menu planning, inventory method, and proper food storage procedure. The head chef will properly instruct them on cooking and food preparation techniques. Assistant chef needs to work in a stressful working environment and they should be expert preparing quality meals for customers in a timely manner. Many restaurants need a chef to work on holidays and during weekends. They should communicate easily with customers and should be friendly with other kitchen staff. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
